This week my daughter, Christa who is my Business partner in Real Estate and a avid University of Michigan fan, met with the principal of Huron High School, Dr. Arthur Williams to find out what makes Huron High School so awesome.

Christa just started a blog, called Live By University of Michigan.

Here is the interview as Dr. Williams tells us in his own words, why Huron is such a great high school for folks relocating to Ann Arbor.

They analyzed the results of a Gallup survey of some 28,000 Americans in their 20s. Jobs are clearly important—but just as clearly, they’re not all-important. When asked what would keep them in their current location, twentysomethings ranked the availability of jobs second.

According to the article what twentysomethings value most in meeting people and making friends.

One of the things they didn’t address in the study was affordable housing... stating post college kids could rent or live together. Not sure I agree with that as a licensed Broker in Michigan. I have found most are ready to own and settle down once they have graduated.

Regardless, glad Ann Arbor can now has affordable housing.

The texting while driving ban takes effect in Michigan on Tuesday.

Texting while driving in Michigan will be a primary offense, which means you can be stopped if a police officer thinks you might have been texting. At this point texting is illegal but dialing the phone is not. It remains to be seen if they will check your phone to see if you were texting or dialing while driving.

The fee for first time offenders in $100.00 and for second offenses it is $200.00. No points will be added to your driving record if you are given a ticket.

This video is hard to watch but is well worth the time to see the dangers.

ReBar Camp in Grand Rapids Michigan was todayWednesday, May 26th.

I was excited to be a Discussion Leader and get to meet IRL (in real life) fellow Michigan bloggers and experts in Social Media. (a little shameless self promotion)

ReBar Camp in Grand Rapids is sponsored by the Grand Rapids Association of Realtors.

This is not my first ReBar Camp, I just returned from one in Nashville two weeks ago, attended one in Chicago last summer and the first one in San Francisco in July of 07.

What is a ReBar Camp?

A daylong exchange of ever-rotating ideas and discussion centered around how RE professionals can bring their business up to speed with today’s online consumer market using the latest in technology and social media advancements. Learn from leading professionals at companies like Google, Zillow and Trulia.

Lead a session yourself.

Whatever you do, make sure you’re not sitting still and zoning out.

It’s the conference that’s more CONVERSATION than conference!

Why I like ReBar Camps?

The sessions are NOT presentations, they are CONVERSATIONS. The experts in the room will often give a 15-20 minute talk on a subject to get the conversation going, and then open the room to question and answer. If you have a question or a statement, ask it. If you have an answer, offer it

There are NO attendees at REBarCamp, only participants.

ReBar Camps are FREE, but you do need to register.
