Open day at University of Michigan Football

1 Comment | Leave A Comment

U of M. football here we goOpening today for the Michigan Wolverines is tomorrow. There is so much excitement living in Ann Arbor and a college town. Even if expectations are low around the country we are looking forward to a new era at University of Michigan.

We have a new coach, Rich Rodrigues, who runs the spread offence which is new and different at this Big 10 school, steeped in a running tradition. “Coach Rod” as he is called is the son of a coal miner from West Virginia, with blue-collar roots, he became a head coach at age 24.

Coach Rod is still not saying who will be the starting quarter-back. My guess is he will play both of them. Nick Sheridan is from Saline, who was the QB when my son Andrew played at Saline. Nick is a walk-on Red Shirt sophomore is competing with Steven Threet, from Adrian for the opening job. We open against Utah who also runs a spread offense and has their seasoned QB returning. In the past, Michigan has had a hard time defending against the spread offence, but now that we are defending it every day in practice, we should be much improved.

The Stadium is under construction with 49 suites (luxury boxes) not completed. Construction is due to be completed in 2010 and I have been watching the cranes and the steel around the Stadium all summer.

Here is a great air tour of what it will look like when completed.

Fans are asked to come early, due to the construction. Of course, all my kids and their girlfriends and boyfriends are going early like at 8:00 for a 3:30 kick-off. Christa will be running through the house, yelling, “get up, it’s game day” with the fight song playing in the background. About the only days of the year, she is the first one up.

The Victors Walk will begin 2 hours before the game, as the Wolverines walk 200 yards from the U of M. public safety building to stadium tunnel entrance and into the locker room.

So even with the QB situation not known, a stadium under construction, a new offense, and losing to Appalachian State last year in our season opener, this is still Michigan.

One of THE most winning college football schools in the country, full of pomp and tradition. A place where we sing, “Hail to the Victors” the best fight song known in the country and love every minute of it.

GO BLUE!!

Ann Arbor Washtenaw County 2nd Quarter Market Data

3 Comments | Leave A Comment

Every month I get the Ann Arbor Area, Washtenaw County data from Big House Data. The second quarter data had both surprises and not some surprises. When you are out selling and working with buyers on a day to day basis, Realtors just instintively know what is happening.

If a buyer wants a home in a certain neighborhood and a certain price point then the hunt is on. My last two listings both had offers within 2 weeks, a home in Saline and a condo in Ann Arbor. Both of the sellers were aggressive in their pricing and both homes were in tip top shape.

In Ann Arbor there is currently a 6 month supply of homes on the market. Homes SW of Liberty to Main has the least amount of inventory with 5.5 months. In comparison NW of US23 to M14 is showing the highest at 9.2 months.

Condos in Ann Arbor have a 8.6 months of inventory, where as in Ypsilanti the inventory in condos is 28.2 months.  Homes in Ypsilanti have a 18.5 months of inventory. Here are the charts, just call me if you need more information. 734-821-0757

Bottom line certain area’s are in better shape for sellers and certain areas are great opportunities for buyers.

What is a meme ?

10 Comments | Leave A Comment

Matthew Rathburn tagged me last week to do a meme. A meme is an internet game similar to a chain letter except you post on line, and then tag 8 of your friends to answer the same questions. And on and on it goes. You actually do learn some trivial things about people and I guess that is the point. But, this is my 3rd or 4th one since I started blogging so hang on maybe you will learn “something” about me you didn’t know.

The challenge was to answer 8 questions.

The challenge was to pick 8 friends and tag them to answer the same 8 questions. Well, I have a ton of friends on Active Rain, Twitter and FaceBook. Let’s see who will get the least upset with me ?

1) Who is my favorite musical artist?

That’s hard, I like so many and it rotates and evolves depending on my mood, new CD released etc… Overall I love County Pop flavor the best. So I guess my long time favorites are Reba and Martina McBride.

2) Who is my favorite artist?

Saint by Sarah JaneSaint by Sarah Jane. Sarah is my second cousin and designs jewelry. I could never afford it, but my cousin sends me some to wear. It all has meaning and has come at special or difficult times in my life. She designs jewelry with a nature inspired motif. Read the rest of this entry

Dreams, Goals and Remarkable Service in Ann Arbor

11 Comments | Leave A Comment

What are your dreamsRecently I gave the Missy Caulk TEAM an assignment, to write down their dreams? After looking at me like I was completely crazy, I asked them, “Seriously, ARE you dreaming?”

Another word I use in place of the word dream is vision.

What is the vision you have for your life? Have your written it down? Are you waiting for it? Are you running towards it?

Henry David Thoreau said, “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined. As you simplify your life, the laws of the universe will be simpler.”

I was recently challenged when someone ask me about my dreams. For a moment I was stunned. It had been a long time since I had really thought about what my own dreams were. Being a mom, wife, and Realtor, and now a blogger, that is about all I have had time to think about for years. Just the day to day tasks of life are all consuming. Sure, I have goals but goals are not dreams.

We live in a culture of more, more, more, faster, faster, faster, newer, newer, newer. Everything and everyone is screaming for our attention.

Seth Godin one of my favorite authors and blogger, wrote a book, The Purple Cow, in it he talks about being Remarkable. He poses the question, What are we doing in our Marketing efforts that is truly remarkable. Shortly after I read the Purple Cow and was pondering what I could do to make the Caulk Team truly remarkable, my husband had a heart attack and we spent several days at St.Joe’s hospital.

Scrolling across the computer monitors in the ER, and throughout the nurses station, were the words, Remarkable Medicine and Care.  hummmm, wonder if they read Seth’s book?

What holds us back from fulfilling our dreams? What can we do to place our dreams above our fears and be remarkable in our careers, and our families?

All six of the Buyer Agents on the Missy Caulk TEAM, are dedicated to giving you remarkable service and helping your pursue your dreams of home ownership.
